Acton's Dog Park Committee (ADPC)
Acton's Dog Park Committee was established in 2017 to determine whether the Town would benefit from a public dog park. After conducting research and community outreach; gathering input from Town boards and committees; visiting several Massachusetts dog parks, consulting with their representatives; and developing criteria for a desirable and successful dog park, the Select Board authorized the committee to move forward, updating its charter to take the next steps towards establishing a dog park.
The committee then identified funding sources; visited and vetted available municipal properties; gathered additional community input; and ultimately recommended the 348 Main Street site as the location for the dog park. Once the site was approved, the ADPC oversaw the park's design and successfully applied for the Stanton Foundation grants for design and a substantial portion of construction costs. The ADPC will continue working with the Town through park construction and opening.
